The organisation of the Compiègne International Dressage Competition learned on the morning of Friday 28 May that a horse present at the Stade Equestre du Grand Parc had tested positive for the EHV-1 virus. This horse, as well as the other horses likely to have been in contact with it during transport, or through the grooms or equipment, immediately left the site. These horses were first subjected to samples that were immediately sent to the laboratory in Caen. The results confirmed in the evening that all the horses tested were negative. The FEI, which had validated the measures previously taken, was immediately informed of the results.
Even if the sport is at the heart of the competition, the health of the horses and their sanitary safety remain the priority in the eyes of the organiser, who is relieved that it was a false alarm.
